Description

The Canadian Climate Fund for the Private Sector in Asia (CFPS) at the Asian Development Bank (ADB) provided support for a small-scale solar power project, in Samoa. This funding is part of the preparatory technical assistance stage which will support the expenses of technical, legal, environmental, and social due diligence to be conducted for the project to finance the building of the 4.4 megawatt photovoltaic solar power system.

Results/Expected Outcomes

The technical assistance will support the project’s expected results, which include: new renewable energy capacity of approximately 4.4 megawatts (MW) flat plate solar photovoltaic panels; new renewable energy generation of an estimated 5,700 MW per year; estimated greenhouse gas emission reductions of 4,176 metric tons of CO2 per year; and, create 20 construction jobs, and 5 permanent jobs for ongoing operation and maintenance.
