Description
This project helps to advance the development and implementation of national climate change adaptation plans, and climate change mitigation actions in nine countries of the Caribbean: Antigua and Barbuda, Belize, Dominica, Grenada, Guyana, Jamaica, St. Lucia, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, and Suriname. It aims to develop and implement these plans and actions in sectors of the greatest beneficial impact on women and girls including agriculture and tourism.
It focuses on strengthening governance relative to national climate change planning, and on making governance inclusive of women. The project works on building the capacity of these nine countries to prepare technically robust feasibility studies and gender-responsive project proposals to access climate finance from various organizations including the Green Climate Fund.
It builds on the work of other partners to help countries in the region strengthen, in a gender-responsive manner, their natural disaster recovery mechanisms and risk reduction, and climate change plans and adaptation responses.
