Description

The project was intended to produce a national action plan for the clean energy sector to restructure the energy used by households and small businesses by reducing use of wood or charcoal and promoting alternatives. The action plan identified solutions and approaches regarding sector supply and demand and support for the revision of a regulatory framework. It also allowed us to define the structure of a multi-donor fund to finance this strategy and to define the roles of various actors, including the Government of Haiti, civil society and the private sector, and the international community.

Results/Expected Outcomes

The project allowed for the development of a national integrated clean energy action plan. The action plan is divided into two sections: The first details the consequences of traditional cooking methods as well as market growth, challenges and opportunities, and lessons learned. The second presents the strategy and recommendations to stimulate the market.
