Description
This contribution is part of Canada's $10 million Fast-start contribution to the International Development Research Centre (IDRC) to support the African Adaptation Research Centres Initiative. This project established an adaptation research centre for the Nile Delta, an area that is particularly vulnerable to the impacts of climate change.
Results/Expected Outcomes
Key results supported by Canada's contribution include the development of a grant management system to support research projects in Egypt by the research team. To date, five research institutes are being funded through the project to model vulnerability and socioeconomic dimensions linked to climate change impacts in the Nile Delta coastal zone. Technical training has been provided to more than 1000 students, farmers, and authorities since the beginning of the project.
