  • Forest Change Data Catalogue (Opens in a new Window)

    The Forest Climate Change Data Catalogue is a collection of data sets that are relevant to the Canadian forest sector under a changing climate. Created by Canadian Forest Service scientists, these data sets include static maps, raw data (both point and gridded), and interactive maps that cover all of Canada. Data themes include drought, fire, climate and tree distribution; multiple climate scenarios are projected to the year 2100. The data sets will be periodically updated as new information becomes available.

    Ice climatology (Opens in a new Window)

    The Ice Climatology dataset contains long-term information on ice conditions over specific geographic regions. It can be used to examine annual average conditions as well as minimum and maximum ice extent. The dataset includes seasonal summaries, annual Arctic ice atlases, 30-year ice atlases, and ice coverage records. Specific measures include average ice concentration, ice type, frequency of sea ice, old ice concentration, and freeze-up/break-up dates.

    Ice Graph (Opens in a new Window)

    IceGraph 2.0 generates ice coverage bar graphs and data tables for a selected region and date range. Data are available from 1968 to present and can be compared between seasons. Specific measures include first year ice, new ice, young ice, and old ice for the current season as well as for the historical monitoring period.

    Precipitation Change in Canada - Seasonal average precipitation departures compared with the 1961–1990 reference value, Canada (Opens in a new Window)

    The Precipitation Change in Canada indicator measures the yearly and seasonal surface precipitation departures for the years 1948 to 2014. An annual departure (or anomaly) is the difference between the value for a given year and a baseline value. The baseline values used in this indicator are the annual and seasonal precipitation values for the reference period of 1961 to 1990. Information is provided in a number of formats including: static and interactive maps, charts and graphs, HTML and CSV data tables and downloadable reports.

    Regional, national and international climate modeling (Opens in a new Window)

    Regional, national and international climate modeling contains a database of numerous climate variables for Canada and the USA. Historical and future periods are available as modelled point and gridded data. Data are available as 30-year averages (e.g. 1961/90; 1971/2000, etc.), historical month-by-month (from the late 1800s), and daily values (from the 1950s) all for a number of variables, Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) climate change scenarios, and climate models. Future time periods include all years to 2100 and 30-year means for 2011-2040, 2041-2070, and 2071-2100.

    Temperature Change in Canada - Seasonal average temperature departures compared with the 1961–1990 reference value, Canada (Opens in a new Window)

    The Temperature Change in Canada indicator measures the yearly and seasonal surface air temperature departures for the years 1948 to 2014.     The use of the Land Suitability Rating System to Assess Climate Change Impacts on Corn Production in the Lower Fraser Valley of British Columbia (Opens in a new Window)

    The Land Suitability Rating System (LSRS) is a spatial modeling tool that generates a class rating for individual parcels of land for specific agricultural field crops based on a soil-climate-landscape potential. Alongside the Tool are accompanying climatic temperate index maps and climate moisture maps.

    Wave Data Available On-line (Opens in a new Window)

    Wave Data Available On-line provides wave height, wave period, wind direction, wind speed, air temperature, and air pressure observations from buoys and unofficial Meteorological Service of Canada (MSC) observations for the historical period of 1970 to present. Data are available for each station/buoy in tabular and graphical format.
