    Agriculture Water Demand Model (Opens in a new Window)

    The Agriculture Water Demand Model (AWDM) calculates current water requirements for agriculture using crop, soil, irrigation system type, and historical climate data, as well as future water requirements using projected climate change scenarios. The climate data layer has been developed for the entire Province of BC on 500 metre by 500 metre grid cells. The water demand results help municipalities to develop dedicated agriculture water that the Water Sustainability Act (WSA) supports. The BC Ministry of Agriculture has continued to collaborate with partners to expand the AWDM to other regions of the province, with complete coverage expected by 2021.     Arctic Portal (Opens in a new Window)

    The Arctic Portal is a comprehensive gateway to Arctic information and data on the internet, increasing information sharing and co-operation among Arctic stakeholders and granting exposure to Arctic related information and data. The interactive map allows user to select and view specific layers of climate variables, including boreholes, permafrost classification, permafrost extent, details on the active layer, sea ice extent, and historical climate. Additionally, static maps of sea ice, flora and fauna are available for download.

    Climate Atlas of Canada (Opens in a new Window)

    The Climate Atlas of Canada is an interactive tool developed for users to learn about climate change in Canada. It combines climate science, mapping and storytelling. The primary source of climate model data presented in maps, charts and tables is the Pacific Climate Impacts Consortium. Statistically downscaled data was derived from 12 Coupled Model Intercomparison Project Phase 5 (CMIP5) global climate models for two emissions scenarios: Representative Concentration Pathway (RCP) 4.5 and 8.5. For comparative purposes, observed data are included in all time-series graphs for the period 1950-2005. The source of the observed data used in the Atlas is Natural Resources Canada.

    Climate Atlas of Canada: Find local data (Opens in a new Window)

    Find local data is a search tool that allows users to find climate data. Users can search by geographic location, municipality, and region across Canada. Data available include several climate variables, projected over 2021-2050 and 2051-2080, under two emission scenarios, and at annual or seasonal resolutions. Future data are available as point data.

    Climate Explorer (Opens in a new Window)

    The Pacific Climate Impacts Consortium's (PCIC) Climate Explorer Tool generates maps, plots and data describing projected future climate conditions for the Pacific and Yukon Region. Climate variables include temperature, precipitation, and humidity. It uses an ensemble of more than 15 Global Climate Models (GCM) and combinations of emissions scenarios provided by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC). Users can generate custom maps, plots and data projected to the 2020s, 2050s, and 2080s.

    ClimateBC_Map is a tool that extracts and downscales PRISM 1971-2000 monthly climate normal data and monthly solar radiation normal data (800 x 800 m) to scale-free point locations, and calculates seasonal and annual climate variables for specific locations in British Columbia based on latitude, longitude and elevation (optional). Climate projections are available for Representative Concentration Pathway (RCP) 4.5 under models for the 2025, 2055, and 2085 time periods. Data are spatially projected onto a map, and could be appended onto a csv file for download.

    Current Alberta Weather Conditions Summary (Opens in a new Window)

    The Current Alberta Weather Conditions Summary contains an interactive display of precipitation, temperature, humidity, wind variables observed at various stations in Alberta in real time. This resource also contains forecasts of average weather variables for several days into the future. Variables include temperature, wind, precipitation, humidity, frost, and length of season. Data is available graphically.

    Ecological Factors - Drought Risk Tool, Frost Risk Tool (Opens in a new Window)

    The Drought and Frost Risk Tools assess forest health and risk(s) related to frost, drought, and ecological characteristics. Applications are currently valid for sub-regions within BC: Prince George and Cranbrook Timber Supply Area (TSA) (Drought tool) and Cariboo (Frost tool). These tools are excel-based applications and assess risk for current conditions as well as projected future climates for 2020, 2050, and 2080.
