Library of climate resources

This is a collection of links to climate datasets, tools, guidance and related resources. The sources include the federal government, provincial and territorial governments, national professional organizations, climate consortia and established international organizations. It can be useful for impact, vulnerability and risk assessments, and for adaptation planning.

Refine your search using the search filters. You can also type up to 5 keywords in the search bar.

Explanation of the different resource types
  • data product - downloadable climate dataset
  • tool - builds on a dataset with further analyses and/or visualization
  • guidance - provides direction on the use of climate information or on conducting climate-related assessments
  • codes and standards - guidance and best practice documents for climate resilient design
  • additional resources include educational and awareness-raising material, impact assessments and scientific syntheses

Geoscience Atlas (Opens in a new Window)

The Geoscience Atlas is an interactive map that allows users to select and view layers that include general map layers (e.g. Forest access roads and Contours), coastal monitoring variables (e.g. Coastal Erosion Index and Coastal Sensitivity Index), areas of geochemistry, and geology. Users can toggle and zoom into specific regions in Newfoundland and Labrador. Coastal erosion indices are viewable on map at point resolution.

Ice Graph (Opens in a new Window)

IceGraph 2.0 generates ice coverage bar graphs and data tables for a selected region and date range. Data are available from 1968 to present and can be compared between seasons. Specific measures include first year ice, new ice, young ice, and old ice for the current season as well as for the historical monitoring period.

Mackenzie DataStream (Opens in a new Window)

Mackenzie DataStream is an open access platform for sharing and exploring water data in the Mackenzie River Basin. Data are currently collected by community monitors with the help of scientists and accredited laboratories, who look for dissolved metals, turbidity, temperature, chlorophyll-a, as well as oil and gas chemicals. An interactive map may be used to select stations and locations of interest. Data are available for download in graphical and tabular formats. PLAN2ADAPT (Opens in a new Window)

The Plan2Adapt tool generates maps, plots, and data describing projected future climate conditions for regions throughout British Columbia. It is designed to help assess climate change in regions of BC based on a standard set of climate model projections. Climate variables include temperature, precipitation, snowfall, and growing and heating degree days. Impacts of change in these climate variables are also discussed. Data can be explored based on regional districts, health authority boundaries, ecoprovinces, and forestry regions over three time periods (2020s, 2050s, and 2080s), seasonally and annually.
