    Atlantic Climate Adaptation Solutions Association (Opens in a new Window)

    The Atlantic Climate Adaptation Solutions (ACASA) Project is a partnership among the provincial governments of Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, and New Brunswick, and regional stakeholders including nonprofits, tribal governments, and industry. ACASA applied for and received a grant from Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) as part of the Regional Adaptation Collaborative (RAC) Program to build a collaborative effort to address regional climate change impacts. This site primarily provides access to ACASA's projects, publications, and other research outputs that help Atlantic Canadians better prepare for, and adapt to, climate change.

    Climate Data for Nova Scotia (Opens in a new Window)

    Climate Data for Nova Scotia includes information on maximum temperatures, minimum temperatures, precipitation, extreme precipitation and growing season length, broken up into different regions of Nova Scotia. Each region has historical data for a 30-year baseline period (1961-90 is used here) and future projections to the end of the century (2100). Future projections are based on 30-year time periods: 2020s, 2050s, and 2080s. This information was generated by the Meteorological Service of Canada at Environment and Climate Change Canada and uses a statistical downscaling method of results from the Canadian Global Climate Model (CGCM1).

    Climate Impacts and Outlook (Opens in a new Window)

    The Climate Impacts and Outlook resource offers a snapshot of recent weather events and anomalies, regional weather impacts on ecosystems and economic sectors, and a forecast for the coming three months displayed through static maps. Historical and future data are available as point, grid and polygon data. Regional impacts and outlooks are available from 2014 to 2017. Current conditions and forecasts of temperature, precipitation, drought, stream flow, winter weather, and ocean conditions are available.

    This tool is designed to help communities assess entire lifecycle infrastructure costs for different land use patterns.     DNR Coastal Flood Risk Maps (Opens in a new Window)

    DNR Coastal Flood Maps contain static coastal flood risk maps for different regions in Nova Scotia at a scale of (1: 10 000) scale. Flooding risk is derived from sea level rise and storm surge. These maps are available for download as PDFs. These maps were taken at different points of the different regions along the coastline during 2012.

    Extreme Precipitation in Atlantic Canada (Opens in a new Window)

    Extreme Precipitation in Atlantic Canada is intended to extend the print-based Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) Intensity-Duration-Frequency (IDF) analyses for Atlantic Canada through an interactive web tool. The web tool provides users with enhanced access and visualization of the official ECCC IDF point data. Features include familiar ECCC IDF station based graphs and tables with access through a map based browser interface, IDF graphs and tables based on gridded data to provide information for locations between observing sites, contoured regional and province-specific extreme rainfall maps, downloadable ASCII grid files, and integration of US data for improved visualization at the border and access to US station data.
