    In 2020, the Assembly of First Nations (AFN) held its first National Climate Gathering in Whitehorse, Yukon, on the traditional territory of the Ta’an Kwächän and the Kwanlin Dün. More than 300 First Nations experts, leaders, youth, women, knowledge keepers, and professionals gathered to discuss root causes, acceleration of existing challenges, and solutions to the climate crisis. This report reflects on the presentations, discussions, experiences and knowledge shared at the Climate Gathering.

    This map locates the parts of the territory where coastal erosion standards, prescribed by the Quebec government, must be applied. Coastal erosion constraint zones include protection strips where various interventions must be regulated. These zones are intended to be integrated into the RCM's land use and development plan for land use planning and control, in accordance with the requirements of the Act respecting land use planning and development (A-19.1, section 5).

    Climate Adaptation and Resilience in Commercial Real Estate (Opens in a new Window)

    Extensive resources exist to support climate adaptation for municipalities, communities and critical infrastructure. Yet, there remains little comprehensive technical content addressing adaptation specifically for the commercial real estate sector (CRE) in Canada. To support the CRE sector, the objectives of this study are to identify and review guidance, frameworks, protocols, tools, academic publications, industry publications and other essential resources for conducting climate-risk assessments; best practices for climate resilience measures for the CRE sector; existing codes and standards in Canada and abroad that are relevant to climate resilience in CRE; and potential opportunities where standardization could support climate resilience in CRE.

    Coastal Flood Inundation Mapping Project (Opens in a new Window)

    The Capital Region Coastal Flood Inundation Mapping Project (PDF) provides a comprehensive picture of coastal flooding due to rising sea levels and tsunamis. The project provides enhanced coastal flood hazard information to: - Help planners and emergency managers prepare the region for coastal storm and tsunami events that may impact southern Vancouver Island and the Southern Gulf Islands. - Offer guidance to regional stakeholders to inform coastal flood policy, planning and communication efforts. - Better understand the infrastructure, ecosystems and cultural sites that may be at risk due to future sea level rise. - Identify risks to residents and infrastructure (e.g., harbours, marinas, docks) within the capital region as a result of tsunami waves and currents.

    The File Transfer Protocol (FTP) Yukon Data directory provides access to a wide range of Yukon datasets.
