  • Agricultural Irrigation Scheduling Calculator (Opens in a new Window)

    The Agricultural Irrigation Scheduling Calculator uses evapotranspiration (ET) data from Farmwest to advise producers on irrigation scheduling. Users specify soil type, irrigation system design, location, and crop type and receive tailored irrigation advice as output. Data is presented graphically and is available for download in report form.

    Agriculture Water Demand Model (Opens in a new Window)

    The Agriculture Water Demand Model (AWDM) calculates current water requirements for agriculture using crop, soil, irrigation system type, and historical climate data, as well as future water requirements using projected climate change scenarios. The climate data layer has been developed for the entire Province of BC on 500 metre by 500 metre grid cells. The water demand results help municipalities to develop dedicated agriculture water that the Water Sustainability Act (WSA) supports. The BC Ministry of Agriculture has continued to collaborate with partners to expand the AWDM to other regions of the province, with complete coverage expected by 2021.     Farmwest (Opens in a new Window)

    Farmwest.com is a website launched in 2001 to provide weather and climate information as well as a number of decision-support tools to the agricultural sector. Farmwest is linked to 397 weather stations across Canada from federal, provincial, municipal and private weather station networks. Data includes temperature, precipitation, growing degree days, pest degree days, T-Sum calculator, and seasonal weather forecasts. Data are searchable by station and time period, and are available graphically.

    Maps for Farmers and Agribusiness (Opens in a new Window)

    Maps for Farmers and Agribusiness provides information on Saskatchewan crop, weed, insect, disease, and moisture conditions. Users can download maps in PDF format for southern Saskatchewan at sub-county resolution. Rainfall, moisture, and temperature maps are updated weekly. Users can also download weekly Crop Reports as well as insect and crop disease maps.

    Satellite Soil Moisture (Opens in a new Window)

    Satellite Soil Moisture map and dataset show moisture in the top 5 cm of soil across Canada. Data are available on a Weekly, bi-Weekly, and monthly basis. Soil moisture values are available as absolute values and as difference from average soil moisture over a longer-term period.

    Weather Conditions and Reports (Opens in a new Window)

    The Weather Conditions and Reports database contains historical climate data at various scales from across Manitoba. About 109 stations monitor air temperature, relative humidity, rainfall, wind speed/wind direction and soil temperature. In addition to regular weather and soil reports, users can access more specialized tools, including disease and crop condition reports. Data are available in tabular, mapped, and report formats.
