    Indigenous Climate Change Adaptation Planning Toolkit (Opens in a new Window)

    The objective of the Indigenous Climate Change Adaptation Planning (ICCAP) Toolkit is to provide a suite of user-friendly tools, resources, and key considerations to support Indigenous individuals and communities interested in undertaking climate change adaptation planning. The intent is for the toolkit to be used by communities at all different stages of the adaptation planning process, including communities with little or no prior experience. The toolkit includes six guidebooks, additional guidance, and two Indigenous language glossaries.

    This guide was developed to assist communities in the NWT integrate climate change adaptation measures into existing and future community plans. This resource outlines steps to developing a community adaptation plan, provides guidance on accessing climate data and future projections, and describes methods for integrating climate information into various planning initiatives (hazard mapping, community emergency, strategic, financial, etc.).

    ISO 14091:2021 Adaptation to climate change - guidelines on vulnerability, impacts and risk assessment (Opens in a new Window)

    This document gives guidelines for assessing the risks related to the potential impacts of climate change. It describes how to understand vulnerability and how to develop and implement a sound risk assessment in the context of climate change. It can be used for assessing both present and future climate change risks. Risk assessment according to this document provides a basis for climate change adaptation planning, implementation, and monitoring and evaluation for any organization, regardless of size, type and nature.

    Métis Climate Change and Health Vulnerability Assessment (MCCHVA) (Opens in a new Window)

    This comprehensive report examines the relationship between climate change and Métis health and wellbeing. The report reviews health vulnerabilities and Métis-relevant social determinants of health; climate risks by each governing area and type of hazard such as forest fire, extreme heat, and flooding; knowledge gaps; and, key areas for action by each Metis governing body. The report recognizes the unique environmental knowledge of the Métis Nation and the strength of their communities, which provide examples of resiliency that can be used in adapting to climate change.     This toolkit helps local health units assess community vulnerabilities, identify and implement adaptation strategies, and reduce the public health risks of climate change. It includes a technical document, workbook and a report on climate change and health modelling.

    PEI Climate Change Risk Assessment (2021) (Opens in a new Window)

    This Climate Change Risk Assessment (CCRA) builds on the current understanding of social, environmental, health, economic, and cultural impacts that may be induced or exacerbated by climate change and identify priorities for adaptation planning for the Province of Prince Edward Island. The CCRA will serve as a tool to identify and better understand risks, set priorities for adaptation planning, and inform decision-making across the province.
