  • Agricultural Irrigation Scheduling Calculator (Opens in a new Window)

    The Agricultural Irrigation Scheduling Calculator uses evapotranspiration (ET) data from Farmwest to advise producers on irrigation scheduling. Users specify soil type, irrigation system design, location, and crop type and receive tailored irrigation advice as output. Data is presented graphically and is available for download in report form.

    Arctic Portal (Opens in a new Window)

    The Arctic Portal is a comprehensive gateway to Arctic information and data on the internet, increasing information sharing and co-operation among Arctic stakeholders and granting exposure to Arctic related information and data. The interactive map allows user to select and view specific layers of climate variables, including boreholes, permafrost classification, permafrost extent, details on the active layer, sea ice extent, and historical climate. Additionally, static maps of sea ice, flora and fauna are available for download.

    Atlas of Community-Based Monitoring & Indigenous Knowledge in a Changing Arctic (Opens in a new Window)

    The Atlas of Community Based Monitoring & Indigenous Knowledge in a Changing Arctic was designed to showcase the many community-based monitoring and Indigenous Knowledge initiatives across the circumpolar region. These initiatives assist with network building and identification of best practices and challenges for the field. In an interactive map, users can view ongoing projects in various locations in the Circumpolar Arctic.

    BC Agriculture Water Calculator (Opens in a new Window)

    The BC Agricultural Water Calculator uses 10 years of historical climate data, from 2001 to 2010, to calculate how much water farmers should need for their farm in the "new climate normal", which farmers can reference in their water licence applications. Government of BC staff involved with water authorizations also use this calculator when reviewing applications. Data are available for individual land parcels in tabular format.

    Canadian Cryospheric Information Network (Opens in a new Window)

    Canadian Cryospheric Information Network (CCIN) provides information on measuring, modeling, and understanding the relationships between the cryosphere and the Earth's climate system. It contains data visualizations of current and historical snow water equivalent, sea ice thickness, and current and historical lake ice cover. Historical and future data are available as point and gridded data.

    Farmwest (Opens in a new Window)

    Farmwest.com is a website launched in 2001 to provide weather and climate information as well as a number of decision-support tools to the agricultural sector. Farmwest is linked to 397 weather stations across Canada from federal, provincial, municipal and private weather station networks. Data includes temperature, precipitation, growing degree days, pest degree days, T-Sum calculator, and seasonal weather forecasts. Data are searchable by station and time period, and are available graphically.

    Retooling for Climate Change (Opens in a new Window)

    The ReTooling for Climate Change website of the Fraser Basin Council supports local governments and First Nations in BC in preparing for climate change adaptation. Information is available on climate change generally, impacts in BC and Canada, and community adaptation. Specific topics and sectors include water management, coastal management, hazard management, infrastructure, agriculture, environmentally sensitive areas, forests and forestry, and mining.
